cursor problem

I'm having a little problem with my cursor being 'jerky' and am wondering what I can change to make it move smoothly.

Your help will be appreciated.

Dear Self, since you are using Ubuntu you can go to 'System > Preferences > Mouse' and make adjustments to suit yourself.
