CSA Z662 Hydro test pressure

Hello,

Does anyone know what the hydrotest pressure for CSA Z662 is supposed to be. I know it's 1.5 times design for B31.3, but I can't recall what Z662 is.

If you really need this information, you should have a copy of the CSA Z662 code. Pointing to this forum for justification will reflect very poorly if anything goes wrong.

Z662 has many different test pressures for many different class locations and fluid services; there is no blanket hydro test multiplication factor as in the ASME piping codes.

There is no one answer to your question. Depends if you have pipe to be operated at above or below 700 KPa to start with, and then depends on service, class location, lvp, hvp, CO2, or gas. For pipe over 7oo KPa, generally intended minimum test pressure is 1.25 X MOP in class 1, moves to 1.4 in gas for class 3 or 4, moves to 1.5 for hvp or CO2 in class 2,3, or 4. I would need your operating conditions and service, you need to get a copy of table 8.1, I do not have this standard electronically and cannot attach the table. You would not go worng if you simply tested to 1.5 X MOP in all cases.

In addition to brimmer's comments you need to look into Pipeline Regulation in the area of your project for the test requirements. For example, in Alberta under Pipeline Regulation minimum test pressure for the pipelines conveying gas with H2S content more than 10 mol/kmol is not less than 1.4 MOP in all classes. To test the whole system at 1.5 can be costly on long pipelines, but on short ones is can be worth doing it all at once.

hi everyone, i no for pipeline pressure test is 1.25 mop, it is a sweet gass pipeline. i need to know what the min adn the max pressures are. thanks anyone for their time
