For a multistorey building that we are structurally designing, that has a green garden on the roof, what CSA classification of concrete should we specify for the structural roof slab? Although the roof of course has a waterproofing membrane on top of it, CSA Standard A23.1 says that in corrosive environments a membrane does not reduce the required class of concrete. I believe that some fertilizers are corrosive, so should we specify CSA exposure class C-1 concrete in the structural roof slab supporting the roof garden? What concrete is generally being used in this situation? Anyone know?
