Hi,

Was wondering if its possible to weld CREUSABRO 4800 to ST-37?
The final weld seam isnt subjected to high loads.

Chemical compositions listed below are for max values and in % by mass.
CREUSABRO 4800: C - 0.20, Mn - 1.6, Ni - 0.20, Cr - 1.9, Mo - 0.4, S - 0.005, P - 0.018
ST-37: C - 0.17, Mn - 1.4, P - 0.045, S - 0.45

Thanks.

Yes, both materials can be welded to each other based on your stated chemical compositions.

Make sure you apply preheat for welding and consider post weld heat treatment based on material thickness at the weld joint region. You should also qualify a welding procedure specification.

@metengr, yeah i figured that for the welding of those two materials i should use the same pre-weld and post-weld heat treatment as recommended by the CREUSABRO manufacturer.

@RolMec, i found this document but there is no mention about welding this metal to another one.
