Creo exports PDFs with random filename

Hi all -

I just upgraded to Creo from WF.

When exporting drawings to pdf, the pdf opens in Acrobat
with a random gibberish file name.

But it does prompt for a filename with the drw filename
as default option and appears to save that filename to
disc, but the pdf opens up with the random name.

Is this normal? If so, can I change it to open with the
correct filename? If not, anyone know how to fix it?

Thanks

I'm having the same problem. I run Creo 2.0.

Did you find a solution?

Thanks

No solution, but I did get a response from PTC saying
it's meant to do this. I've learned to live with it (like
so many annoying and unnecessarily complicated things
with ProE).

Here is what he said:

"As per the current functionality of Creo Parametric 2.0,
when exporting a PDF from drawing, the named PDF that is
launched after creation will not match the drawing name
that was exported.
Please note that this is the intended behaviour of Creo
Parametric 2.0 and hence there is no method to fix this.

You may also note that:
- Cero Parametric creates a copy of the PDF file. This is
done since in some occasions the file is created and then
moved to a final location
- A side benefit of this is that if the PDF is recreated
after changes, it can be saved successfully even if the
other is still open in Acrobat. If this was not the case,
then creating another copy/export would fail since the
output file is still in use."

Hope this helps

IN other words, they screwed up in the programming, don't know where to
look to fix it and gave you their textbook response "intended
functionality".

Intended? Is that like when you smack yourself in
the face accidentally and then when you notice someone is looking you
say "I intended to do that"?

If my car turned left when I turned the steering wheel right I would presume it was designed by PTC.

Amen
