Hello!

we are about to refresh the company defaults... we've just changed to Creo 3.

So I would like to change the layer setup mode, instead the old school def_layer ... categories I want to use default_layer_model.
I've already made the layer_setup_file part and made a new layer with some rules in it which are independent and associative.

I open an older model which was made in Creo 2 and when I make a new feature than the rules are working nicely, the new layer turns up and collects the features as it is defined in the setup file.
However I would like to collect the features generated earlier in Creo 2 also to this new layer.

Is there any way to do it automatically? Somehow regenerate the part so the layer rules can collect the earlier generated features? I thought that if i check the "associative" check box in the layer setup file at the rule setup than it will do this.

Any idea?

Thanks!

Hello,
I do not have anything specific to help you however this old video by Leo Greene of E-cognition.net may help you. I have used this technique before for cleaning up layers in a large assembly and it is pretty rock solid. It may trigger some ideas for you.
