Long time NX user here trying to get up to speed on Creo 2.0 If I step in a model, it is easy to generate a sketches from the model and then create a new solid? I know it depends on the complexity of the part, but I guess what I'm asking, does Creo have a reasonable process for doing this and where would I find out what it is? Thanks

Start a sketch and the use edges to create the lines. If you want it to stay dependent on the STEP you are done but if you want to break the dependency then you need to delete the references and create your own dimensions.

The Help for this program was created in Windows Help format, which depends on a feature that isn't included in this version of Windows.
