CREATE SUB ASSY WITH EXISTING PARTS

Is there a way to create a sub assembly using some of the parts and relations already present in an assy? i've already created different configurations with hidden parts, but connot calculate the mass of each config and the BOM is not displaying things the way i want.

you can use the "tranfer" command, on the assembly toolbar

from Help "Transfers the selected part(s) to a new or existing assembly. You can only select parts within a single assembly for transfer. If you select parts from more than one assembly, the command becomes disabled."

also has the option to maintain relationships

Takes a bit of practice but works pretty well once you've got it working.

I assume by this you mean you created view configurations, which do not have any influence on the mass properties calc or BOM - these will still be defined from the full assembly.
To calculate mass properties for a group of parts just select the parts you want and then clck the mass properties button. This will show you the mass props for those parts but will not store the results in the file.
