I am having an issue with saving large files (across the network). Mostly in large assemblies that are programed. It appears like it is timing out after about 30 seconds or so then Pro crashes. The realy strange thing is if I call up the assembly, I can save it as long as I don't regenerate it. But as soon as I regenerate it it will crash on saving.

Could a bad file cause this?

Any Ideas????

Thanks in advance for the help!!

Hi kgrzebien,

When you have the large assembly open, go to view manager and create a simplified rep that includes only a fraction of the components of the assembly (the fraction size will depend on how much you can save before your computer crashes, but let's say for now it's 1/3). Then go to file > erase > not displayed, then save the assembly.
Repeat the process again with a simplified rep that includes next 1/3 of the assembly, and again for the final 1/3 of the assembly.
The saved assembly will then have all the files in the correct directory and the parts will still be associative so you can open the master rep or any other rep previously created.

I hope this works

mburlone,

Thanks for the tip, i have a series of simplified reps in the assembly, so it sould be a easy test to try.

I'll give it a shot, Thanks Again!!!!
