crack propagation analysis using Nastran

Hello all,
Anyone had experiences how to do crack propagation analysis using Nastran. I want analyse the structure with crack so that i have create a elements with crack in structure. I have no idea yet how to create crack line in PATRAN and analyse it in NASTRAN. Any ideas ?.
