Hallo everybody,

I would like to know if is possible with abaqus, simulate a crack growth. If I put a cyclic load how can I say to abaqus to release the nodes? is there any way?

Thanks,
Albert

Albert,

I believe that the buzz word that you need is Virtual Crack Closure Technique (VCCT). I know searching the help for "virtual crack" will get you to the correct area. I am not sure about the cyclic loading but I do not think that it will be a big issue. If I remember correctly when Abaqus releases the nodes it turns the two sides of the crack into contact pairs so that it will not over-close. I hope this helps.
