Hello I am new to SolidWorks. Is it possible to use CosmosXpress to perform a FE analysis on an assembly in SolidWorks 2000. If so, could anyone provide some tips to get started.

Thanks in advance.

CosmosXpress can not be used on an assembly. It only does parts, but you could make the assembly a part then it would work. The results would be a rough idea because the assembly is now part (one solid piece). Hope this helps.

SW00 didn't have CosmosExpress nor the ability to save to a part. YOu have to be using at least SW04 or later before CosmosExpress was avail or save an assembly as a part... however CosmosExpress does not work with multi-bodies either, so you would have to make combine all the parts as single body. This will probably completely mess up your analysis, so you better bet would be to purchase Cosmos that away you could run an analysis on an assembly.

Very true. Let's just say that running an FEA on an assembly and getting sensible answers is an order of magnitude more difficult than a /proper/ single part analysis.
