Hi,

Im looking to split the surfaces of a bolt to seperate the shank and the threaded portion of the bolt. With two surfaces I can add an appearance of a thread to the end farthest from the bolt head. I tried creating a plane offset from the tip of the bolt and then sketched a circle as the projection for splitting but that resulted in the following:
"The projected sketch does not split the selected face"
Anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks,
Tom

Does your version of SW not automatically apply a thread texture when applying a cosmetic thread?

If not:-
Use the Split Line tool with the Intersection option, and select the plane and shank surface. A sketch is not required.

Cheers CorBL, I thought I exhausted all options in the split line control box. Thankyou
