Dear all, we are building and overhead power line with guided towers. Because the type soil (see attached file), the foundations for the guides are drilled as per designed. The client had approved the designed, however yesterday, they decided to reject it based on the assumption that they cannot guarantee that the anchored guy will be fully covered by the cement mix. Part of our procedure is to perform a mechanical test in each guy however appears that the problem is the corrosion. In order to allow us to execute the foundation as per drawing they have asked us to excavate until we hit rock, then encase a PVC duct into the rock, provide that this encasement is water proof and then backfill the excavation. With this solution we have two main problems, the first one is that we may never hit rock (the foundation was designed to work on very hard soils, not necessary rock) and the second one is that there is a lot of extra work involved. Even though we may be able to recover our expenses, we have our team on site and my intention is to finish this work as quickly as possible, so I would like to know, if is there a “paint” that I may use to protect the anchored guys from corrosion, giving peace of mind to my client and avoiding to enter in the “change order zone”.
