Hello All,

I am struggling to find the most useful way to dimension two holes that extend from an angled surface. I have a wedge shape, with holes extending from the flat bottom, and two extending down from the top angled surface (see image attached.

What would be the best way to show the location of these holes, should I be adding a drawing view that is turned so that the angled face is now parallel?

Many Thanks in advance

It depends on from where you need the holes dimensioned. Create a view that is perpendicular to whatever face/plane is the primary datum for the holes and dimension.

As JM said I think you need an auxillary view of the 9° angle face

Also think in terms of machining and inspection. What makes the most sense from a machining and or inspection point of view. This way of thinking helps me determine the best way to dimension and callout.

Samuel
