Hello

I am currently designing a truck unloading system that will include a coriolis micro motion series mass flow meter with rosemount transmitter. The fluid is diesel at ambient temperature. I am under the impression that this type of meter should handle the air that will be in the unloading pump suction line as well as the entrained bubbles in flow. A colleague of mine is suggesting adding an air eliminator upstream the meter because he says the meter will have low accuracy in case of big slugs of gas. The emerson catalouge says otherwise but as you all know sometimes these companies tend to exaggerate the capabilities of their products.

Is it necessary with corriolis meter to have an air eliminator? and is their any down side of having an air eliminator (maybe leakage in the future?)

Thank you

Few meters handle multi-phase fluids with any degree of accuracy, so whilst the meter won't be damaged by air travelling through it, it will screw up your volumetric flow figures.

so yes an air eliminator is a good idea, but yes, they can fail in service.

Just check the minimum pressure required and margin required over vapour pressure. From memory coreolis meters are pretty good in that respect, but look at the small print on the data sheet.
