Just a question on twist-lock type plug and cord assembly, are they suitable for use as motor disconnect means, for motor size 0.4kW, used for transfer pumps? I am in Japan and the catalog cuts did not specifally say motor, or HP rating. When they say "device listed for motor disconnect" what exactly are the criteria, 115% FLA rating, for example, is that one?

In Canada a cord and plug is acceptable as a motor disconnect.
In Canada, motor conductors and switches must be rated at 125% of the motor rated current. In the US it is 125% of the value in a table that lists current values to be used for various sized motors.
For Japan, consult your local codes.
