copying a group of parts in an assembly

without making a sub assembly. is there a simple "copy" command? i only seem to be able to copy single parts by holding down CTRL and dragging. i would rather not have to build up the second group of parts and its mates from scratch. any ideas?

Can you save a copy of the assembly to a new directory and send all of its referenced parts to this directory as well? Then open this assembly copy and delete the parts which you do not want in this 'group.'

I would turn the group of parts into a sub assembly, then cntrl drag a second instance of this subassembly into the main assembly. Once that sub is mated in place, I would dissolve but subassemblies. Its a workaround, but it is pretty fast. Specifically if you have a lot of instances of these groups of parts.

I have used this method in the past to insert a lot of hardware groups that I could do a feature driven component pattern for.
