Copy one congiuration to an other configuration 1

Good morning, is have about a dozen configureations in one model and I need to copy each one of them into another configurations and I really don't want to remake each configuration just so I can change the material, sense I can not do it in the assembly when I import it. Thank you in advance for any suggestions.

Create a derived configuration from each configuration you have. The derived configuration will be identical to its parent upon creation.

Thank you for the response handleman, but one dumb question, can I select a derived configuration in an assembly? Kind of like I can with a regular configuration.

So are you trying to copy a dozen configs to the same part with a new name of the config or are you trying to copy them from one part to another?

One thing I have found when you need to more configs of the same part config is to activate the Config then make a new one. It will exibit the same features, etc... that is in the active config. You just have to activate each config and make a new one each time.

I hope that makes sense.

Of course you can select (highlight) the config and do an Edit\Copy - then Edit\Paste and it will paste that config in that model, but you can't copy from one part to another.

Create a Design Table using the Auto create option. This will populate the DT with all the differences between the configs. New configs can then be very easily & quickly created by simply copying & modifying the information from existing configs.

Thank you for all of the suggestions. This is a forging where I stamp the back and drill two holes into it, each of the configurations is slightly different. Then I nned a exact copy of each configuration so I can have a chrome plated version as well and this derived configuration loooks like it does the trick. As for the design tables, well I have never worked with them, but I will look into them for the future. Thanks again one and all and have a great day.

Yes, you can select a derived configuration just like you would select any configuration. The main difference between derived configurations and regular is that derived configurations are "linked" to their parents, so that when you change the parent configuration it also changes the child configuration.
