I want to copy a drawing and assembly to a new location. In 2007, I could
-open the drawing
-click Save As
-change the location for the drawing file
-click References
-change the path for the assembly (and any other parts I want)
-click OK or Save (I don't remember now)
-click Save in the main Save As window
In 2009, I get to the References, and I can change the path for the assembly, but I only get a Save All button. Some of the assembly components are read only, so it does not go through.
As a workaround, I know I can
-Open the drawing
-click Save As
-change the location
-check the Save as copy box
-click Save
-close the drawing
-open it in the new location
-open the assembly
-Save As the assembly to the new location
-go back and save the drawing
but it takes longer, and I always forget to close the drawing and reopen the copy. Also, if I want to copy other components to the new location, I have to save them all individually, and if other assemblies are open that use the components, the Save As can mess them up.
Any thoughts on how to proceed? Am I stuck with the awkward workaround? Why did they change the original functionality?
Thanks,
Steve
