Coordinated turn without slip ball 1

Wondering if / how a pilot can coordinate a turn visually, without a slip ball. I'm thinking you could do it without a slip ball by feel - if you're being pulled left or right in your seat, but I don't understand if / how this could be done visually. I thought I read an article saying it could be done by looking out at the horizon or something like that, but I can't find it now or imagine how that would work.

Sure.
A piece of string or yarn taped to the center of the windshield will not point straight up if the aircraft (or helicopter) is crabbing.
In a coordinated turn, the yarn will also point straight up (but it may dance around a bit more)

There is nothing built into the human body that can be relied upon to detect this.
