Which Delmia formats do you have?
Can you post them here or post a link of where they can be downloaded from?

[cheers]

I am not familiar with ".CATproduct" files, but that file is only 32KB, which for a CAD assy file is very small. Are you sure it is a valid (not corrupted) file? Can you compare the size to the download site size?

SW cannot open that format file. Have you tried Kens suggestion?

You stated you had tried different formats. Which formats and what sizes were they?

[cheers]

yes the size is good since all the robot models are about the same size

and tried
igs,stl ,stp,3model.3dxml they where all small
yes i tried kens suggestion but still waitimg for license for demo version

If you tried igs and stp and were still unsuccessful I would have to conclude that either the files were not valid, or the translators in your SW version are corrupt.

Do you still have the igs and stp files?
If so post them here for testing.

[cheers]

well the files where created with delmia
as save as one off those formats
stl,igs,stp,3dxml,3dmap

CBL,

Delmia is a Dassualt product.
By the file extension CATpart, it is using Catia as its modeler. That is the extension for Catia files.

He may also have Catia, or Delmia is using the CAD engine to lay his robot motion, or whatever, unto a Catia Assembly model.

I suspect all the CADpart file has is robot paths or robot defination. You are not seeing the entire CAD assembly since that is in the underlying Catia model.

klaas2,

I think you need to talk to whoever you got the model from and have the data saved out in a different format (iges, step, parasolid) so you can read the data you are supposed to be getting.

What exactly is supposed to be in the Delmia file? A full model of the robot. Or is Delmia just defining the robot motion and is used in conjuction with a Catia model?

Anna,

Thanks for the heads up, but I had Googled before posting and learned about the Delmia/Catia connection. I also learned the file klass2 posted, which is actually a '.CATproduct' file, is an assy of CATparts.
See pages 19 and 24 of
So I'm assuming that, like SolidWorks, all the parts (CATparts) would have to be loaded before the assy (CATproduct) could be opened.

Apparently klass2 has already tried "stl,igs,stp,3dxml,3dmap" without success ... but I don't know if they were parts or assys.

CBL,

Thanks for the info. I had not looked at the file klaas2 uploaded.

Being CATproduct files, it makes sense that that is just an overlay of info unto a Catia assembly or part file.

I am sure klaas2 needs to have a translation made with the entire dataset like you have suggested.

thanks for the update.... :)

well i saved the openend file inside delmia
and saved it as all differnt format

what else can then that can i do?

If Delmia can create Parasolid (.x_b or .x_t) format files, that would be best for SolidWorks. The next best is probably the STEP format.

You may end up having to import all the part files and re-create the assy in SW.
