How do I convert a autocad 2000 3D model (.dwg) to a part or assembly file in Solid Edge V16.

thanks
Matt

export it as a STEP or IGES.

"Wildfires are dangerous, hard to control, and economically catastrophic."
"Fixed in the next release" should replace "Product First" as the PTC slogan.

The version of autocad (autocad 2000) I have doesn't have a step or iges option for exporting.

The export STEP and IGES options may be under File>Export>Data in AutoCad.
Is there an export as SAT (ACIS) option ?
If so you should be able to import this format into Solid Edge.
If you don't have any of these options I don't think you will be able to export your 3D to Solid Edge, as it only imports dwg and dxf formats into 2D.

Hi,

Try opening your dwg 3D using a dft (2D) template. You might get an empty draft. Close it without saving. Then check in the folder where the dwg is and see if there is a new *.sat file that SE created.

If that's the case, open that file using a par template.
