Hi All,

Could anybody tell me if it's possible to Export Assemblies/Components from NX1919 to a suitable transfer format to be imported into either NX11.0 or CatiaV5 R29, whilst carrying through Part Name/Part Number/Part Revision information?

many thanks all.

NX has a direct Catia 5 translator that will obviously work best for Catia.
It should carry thru all the information you specified, but I am not certain of that.
STEP would be best for transfer to NX11 from NX1919

Thanks jerry1423, The catia 5 direct translator is only available if it's part of the licence bundle.

I have received STEP files from my contact in order that i can import into NX11, (with varying levels of success).
The files that we were receiving originally were dumb STEP files, just containing a lump of 3D data with no Attributes/properties/assembly, from which i was having to copy and paste the various bodies into new components and try and find name/number from other sources. I suggested that my contact use the Nested Step option with external references... NX -> File -> Export -> Step -> Export to STEP Options -> Advanced Tab -> Check on External references, and select Nested.
This at lest got me a package of step files (Assy and individual components), but all files came with just the part name, (no part number or revision).

Basically i want to be able to go back to my contact with a robust export process that will get me the information embedded that i need when importing at my end without having to rely upon other information sources that may not be updated in line with CAD.

Thanks again for your help.

My license does have Catia export, it doesn't look like the attributes you are looking for export. I do not know which version of Catia it exports back to...
I just tried a GM assembly and the resulting Catproduct and catpart files had little to no attributes in them.

You'll probably have to use Step and then export your attributes into txt or excel and come up with a way to import that into your other systems.
