This is a new forum. While it is very similar to the "Measurement & Control Instrumentation Engineering" forum, I thought I'd offer some thoughts to how to make it unique:

This forum probably shouldn't address field instrumentation.
It is not specific to measurement problems/solutions (use the forum mentioned above for that).
This forum should address control systems, like:
Mechanical (e.g. float level control)
Hydraulic
Pneumatic (panel or local)
Electronic (e.g. "Configurable" controllers, older systems)
PLC-based
DCS-based

This forum might address higher-level systems for enterprise solutions, management, etc.

Topics could include control valves, variable-speed drives, and other final elements.

Technical subjects might also include PID algorithms, calculations, feed-forward control, etc.

Some of my ideas. At least it's a start.

Ok Sams I agree with u.
I'm physics engeneer and i read a lot about this topic.
But there are a lot that i must learn more, and I wish on my first subcribt i can get a lot of information that i can learn.
Thanks

I agree, this will be a useful forum. It could also include the Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS)

I'm looking for a forum for Safety Instrumented Systems. Control system designed to standards such as IEC 61511 and ISA/ANSI S84.01. Know of such a forum or individual contacts.

Why don't you post your SIS-related questions in this forum? I think this is an appropriate place. I don't think SIS should have its own forum. We'd end up subdividing fora forever.

On my job I cover both the field and room. Today's modern concepts include inteligent field, so I think the field and the room equipement has to be on one forum.

This site setup a measurement forum and a control system forum. This is a logical split. Many people who are involved in specialty measurement such as process analyzers are not involved in the control systems and those who apply control systems may know nothing about analyzers.

I consider the control system split to include topics such as DCS, PLC, SIS, remote I/O, Ethernet (and other network topologies and protocols), Internet connections, SCADA, Fieldbus, etc. Perhaps hydraulics such as subsea or machine applications falls into this category. The remaining pneumatic control applications could fall into this category as well.

I am among those who play both ends of the business and will check into measurement instrumentation and control systems.
