Dear Colleagues
I apologize if this question is not a question on this forum. I thought to ask if anybody has an idea what would be a fair rate for a US citizen to work as a contact structural engineer in Mexico?

I appropriate your information and comment.

At least the same rate you get in the USA, or it really makes no sense, plus expenses, including RT travel and 1 week off per three months, accommodations to US standards and provision of appropriate security measures, plus health risk, medical insurance/inclucing emergency evacuation, other hardship and risk premiums as appropriate. Doyou want a contract completion bonus? Do you trust your employer to pay you in full or give you that return airline flight? There are deposits to pay on rental property move-in. There may be penalties to pay same on leaving, after the peso devalues again and your employer has second thoughts. You must be paid in USD. No option there. Bank wire transfer fees? Do you need a car, a driver? Do you speak Spanish? Be sure to get all local holidays paid. It really feels bad when you notice that you are the only one driving to work.

Otherwise it's not fair to you, or others of us that might be thinking of the same thing. Besides it's far easier (and cheaper) to go broke drinking beer at home. And if you do it for any less than the above, you're going to wonder what the heck you're doing there and sooner or later, probably sooner, wind up leaving in a hurry and at a higher move out cost.
