Is there any method or add-in avaliable that can do contour plots of discrete geophysical data. The surface plot available in excel isn't much good as far as I can see unless you assume your 2D geometry can be transposed into neat integer rows and columns that hold the value of the Z variable. I've seen other software that can do contours of data but it would be preferable if something was available that could be run from within excel.

Many thanks BigInch et al. I've found a method now of fitting a grid over the data and applying an inverse distance rule to fit to the data so that the grid of numbers can be contoured by the surface plot using VB6, which I think I can manage.
