Hi,

I am looking for a manufacturer of an application/system that can provide continuous UV detection to identify if our pellets are off-spec or there is a more serious problem in our process.

We would like to do this before visible colour change occurs. Right now we can do this in a batch process where we pass clear pellets under a UV light to see if they fluoresce. Has anyone seen this type of application in use and/or can anyone recommend a vendor who manufactures this type of equipment for continuous detection? Thanks.

Not all UV stabilisers fluoresce under UV light.

A proper process with good control and consumption rates of the various components relative to each other with some spot checks should be good enough.

Thanks for your response. I think there may be some confusion, there are no UV stabilizers added to the process. This is actually less of a product spec concern and more of a safety concern. We have seen in the past, that visible colour change of our pellets is a tell-tale sign of an impending process upset, and this would add another line of defense/protection.

We want to pass some of the pellets from a side stream under a UV light continuously and if they fluoresce this would indicate a problem. I have seen this done in industry before, but I don't recall the name of a manufacturer who makes this type of equipment.
