Hi, i need to calculate primary consolidation settlement for a 100 meters NC clay (GS=2,71 Ysat =1,75 ton/m3), with no soil above, and a very granular soil beneath the clay strata.

The surcharge is 0,25 kg/cm2.

I also need to calculate the time for 50% and 90% of consolidation.

Im attaching the e vs log(sigma) and the deformation vs time graphs from consolidation test of a 7,78 cm height test tube. Please help!

Should i divide the 100 m strata in 20 pieces of 5 m strata?
How should i consider the drainage? Just below or also above?

Could you calculate the values so i can compare with mines.

Thanks!

This sounds like a university homework problem. I would suggest that you check out some of the classic textbooks on the subject (Tomlinson, Condutu)

publish your solution (showing your work) and we'll let you know what we think. . .

with the assumption gwl in the surface, the consolidation settlement is ranging between 200-300mm. How much yours?
