In addition to the previous posting, I have populated some of the data below from my consolidation test to complete the calculation of the initial void ratio.
As an example I am taking the Kaolinite data, as follows.
- Inside diameter of the ring, ID = 6cm
- Height of specimen, Hi = 2cm
- Mass of dry specimen, Ms = 64gr
- Specific of solids, Gs = 2.7
- Density of water , Pw = 1gr/cm3
- Height of solids, Hs --> was calculated of 0.854cm
The calculated initial void ratio for Kaolinite would be 1.341.
