Connection calculation on Rig

We are designing an extension (cantilever) platform on a semi-submersible rig. During the calculations, I perform motion checks by applying motion acceleration factors in a static analysis. There are multiple load combinations, including motion load cases.

When carrying out the connection design, should the member internal forces be taken from the motion load combinations?

The reason I ask is that when motion occurs, the new extension platform moves together with the rig itself. I am uncertain whether these motion-induced forces should be directly applied for connection design, as the internal forces from motion load combinations are significantly higher than those from static load combinations.

I would appreciate your thoughts on this matter.

Yes. The motion loads (inertia of platform x acceleration) need to be accommodated so that the motion of the platform matches the motion of the rig.
