Patterns, Configurations, and Design Tables, Oh my! I'm finding these extremely powerful abilities have left me with a problem, it appears "Instances to Skip" in a pattern are not controllable with configurations (and therefore not with a DT).

I am working on something that is best built with a 2-direction linear array. The spacing and number of instances vary betweeen configurations which are handled nicely in the DT. However, some configurations require skipping some of the "interior" instances. This is not configuration dependent as far as I can determine.

In order to accomplish my designs I am currently having to create different features, i.e., more features, and therefore the model is not as clean.

This looks like a good one for an enhancement request, but if some of you also request it (hint, hint) there is a greater chance of it getting some attention.

Have any of you found an elegant way to handle this? I am using SWX08, SP3.0

Instances skipped is not controllable in a DT and as far as I know there is no way to set this up. Unless you canw write your own code.

Instead of skipping instances, you could adjust the spacing and number of instances. Double the spacing and subtract an instance.

Scott,

That is consistent with my observations. Perhaps in a future version.

bsj0526,

You will have to give me some more help. Consider a grid of 4x6 holes with 1.5" x 1" spacing. I want to skip a couple specific holes inside this grid. No problem so far. However, I have another configuration with 8x3 holes on .75" x 1.25" spacing and do not want to skip any holes. Now I have a problem. Help me understand how your suggestion can solve my problem.

Updraft,

I would use a table driven pattern instead of a linear pattern. That would allow you to control the spacing for each instance.
