I know this has had to have been asked before, but I cannot find it....matter of fact I remember reading something like this very recently....
Are there going to be any ramifications of running 208/230vac in the same conduit as a 24VDC proximity sensor wire pair. I don't think either is (currently) going to be shielded....
For all practical purposes, we'll assume the run is about 100'.

Thanks,
Mark

Yes, there will be ramifications. You will get current induced onto that 24VDC circuit from the AC and it will invalidate your signals, maybe even damage your sensor circuit. Separateing them is best. Shield the 24VDC wire if you still must run them together.

Using twisted pair for the sensor will reduce the pick-up by magnitudes of order.

You can filter out the rest if the sensor's frequency range
is far enough from 60 Hz.

What are your specs?

I don't have the sensor specs handy, however I'm fairly certain they will not be a twisted pair....would using shielded 14 guage cable for the 208 be sufficient?

If the power souce for the sensor is a listed Class 2 or Class 3 power supply, then the condutors are not permitted to be in the same raceway with power conductors. See 725.55 in the NEC.

Check NEC Art. 720 also, for equipment 50 Volts or less,

well I guess I'm out of luck...my sensor is going to be getting power from a class 2 supply....
Thanks to all of you AGAIN....you are all incredibly helpful!
