Dear All,

Could you please let me know the percentage cable filling allowed for a conduit as per BS/IEC.

Regards,
Lakshmipati

I'm not familiar with BS standards, but the NEC limits conduit fill to 40% for three or more conductors. (e.g. Art 344.22 for rigid conduit)

Dear all,

Thanks for the answers.

7another4,

could you please let me know the section in which it is given as 40% filling.

Regards,
Lakshmipati

I think it is in The On-Site Guide .I took this sentence from a flexible conduit manufacturer:
"UK wiring regulations BS7671, recommend that the total cross sectional area of the sum of the individual cables should not exceed 40% of the cross sectional area of the conduit"
And other stated:
"BS7671-2008 provide tables for cable and conduit factors, these can be found in the current IEE On Site guide BS7671-2008 Appendix 5 Pages 117 to 120"
