Dear all,

We are thinking of applying a frequency inverter to a motor wich controls the liquid level in a vacuum condenser (through a centrifugal pump).

Has anybody experience with VSD-drive level control in an industrial vapour condenser?

Many thanks for sharing knowledge,
CARF

For large pumps with long straight discharge lines, be carful of "forbiden speeds" where the pressure pulses of the passing impellor blades reflect back to the pump in phase with subsequent pressure pulses. This can build up excess pressures in a pump housing and actually destroy the pump. The worst that I have seen was a 60 HP. pump with a palm sized hole blown in the casing.
Use a VFD drive that has provision to lock out "Forbidden" speeds.
respectfully
