Concerns of having live oil in desalters

Hi all;

Has anybody ever been involved with desalting package for live oils ( GOR about 100 scf/sbbl )?
what are the major concerns of having dissolved gas ? Besides, I have read somewhere that having electrostatic filed can increase the potential of making disslved gas, free. Does it make sense? How big the effect would be ?
