Can anyone give me direction regarding how to determine the effective width over which a concentrated load applied to elevated wood flooring distributes? I am evaluating an elevated floor in an old manufacturing facility to determine its adequacy to support new equipment. The new equipment is leg supported; therefore, the weight of the equipment will be applied to the floor as concentrated loads. The existing floor system consists of mill deck (i.e. wood) flooring spanning between steel beams that are supported by steel girders. Thanks in advance for your input.
