I have a non-composite (form deck) that consists of: 1" x 26 GA form deck, with normal weight concrete (total thickness = 4") with #3 at 16" o.c. each way. Joists are spaced at 3'-0" on center. Contractor is asking if they can use a scissor lift on the slab. I see designs in the Vulcraft and other deck manuals that address this, but for composite slabs only. I have not seen anything for non-composite form deck. The load is about 4000# total. So, about 1000# per wheel. Wheels are 4.5" wide. The deck was not shored during construction of the second floor slab and is intended to be left in place.
Would the same design used in the composite slab system be applicable for the non-composite. Only real difference I see, is that the form deck is not acting in a composite action with the concrete.
Thanks for you help.
