I am designing a part which involves a cylinder and a rod that slides axially within the cylinder. I am looking for a spring that does 2 things a) compresses so that the rod slides within the cylinder and b) provides some torque so that the rod rotates to some degree (30-45 degrees) within the cylinder. Can an open coil compression spring also provide some torque like a torsion spring or vice versa (an open coil torsion spring that can be compressed)?
