Composite solid orientation: ORIENT subroutine

Hello everyone,
I am modeling a complex geometry using C3D8 elements with composite properties. I wrote a simple ORIENT subroutine, that assigns local directions according to element nodes. The problem is that when i set the ply angle in the input file with the command *SOLID SECTION, COMPOSITE, the local direction doesn't change.
Is it normal? Would it be possible to assign different orientations through the same ORIENT subroutine?
