Per ASME Y14.5-2009, is it legal to specify a composite positional tolerance for a width per unit length, similar to straightness, flatness and profile?
My company receives finished extrusions that need relatively loose controls along the full length of the extrusion, but needs tighter controls for shorter lengths.
The position control I circled in red is something along the lines of what I'm proposing.
I look forward to discussing.
Thank you.

Jason

The problem you are apparently trying to adapt to is irregularities in the datum feature - as it is this still uses the full depth of the feature. A note that noted tolerances apply to a sliding window along the extrusion for some length would better describe the situation.
