I'm trying to derive the slope equation for a composite beam. I've calculated "I" by using the equivalent area method. Which "E" would I use? Would I have to find an equivalent "E"?

Many thanks.

I've been trying to calculate the equivalent "E", but I'm not sure how to go about it. I appreciate the help.

Use Es or Ec and a transformed section with ratio n = Es/Ec.

For a composite beam, EIeffective needs to be calculated to take into account partial composite action. See the Commentary to Chapter I of the AISC specification.
