Hello,

I have a composite material (Matrix and random glass fibers) unit cell(3D), I want to get the stress vs strain curve of the composite material. For that I have inserted the elastic and plastic properties(true stress and true plastic strain)of matrix, and elastic properties of fibers since fibers are brittle. I have applied the load in steps in order to get a converged graph. The results are not matching even in the elastic region. How do I proceed? I have several questions.

1. I am not sure about the applied load, what load should be applied?
2. For this non linear solution, the static general analysis is sufficient?

Thanks in advance

Hi John,

1) I would recommend creating a coupling constraint between a master node and all the nodes along the face of the unit cell and apply a concentrated force to the master node.

2) Yes

If your results are not matching, you may want to adjust fiber/matrix properties.

Regards

Thank you very much Woongbi for your valuable comments. I would like to know more about how do I adjust fiber/matrix properties?
