Comparison between Indian and American code ( sectional properties)

In IS800:2007 too when we are checking for section properties, the limit is very less ( around 100 for d/tw) and in AISC it is near 140 .
As per IS800 limiting ratio of d/tw = 126E ( E=(250/fy)^0.5 which is nearly 100
Where as in AISC 2005 limit = 5.7 *(E/fy)^0.5 = 140
Will there be this much difference between Indian and American code ?
 
You probably should specify what slenderness limits we're talking about. Is this the difference between a class 2 and class 3 section, a difference between class 3 and class 4?

For AISC are we talking about compact vs non-compact or non-compact versus slender?
