Dear all,
does anybody know why the Norsok STD L-005 limits the temperature application range of compact flanged connections to 250 °C?
For certain fluid services my Client has had bad experiences with ASME flanges and now he is asking me (I'm developing engineering services for him) to specify compact flanged connections as per Norsok STD L-005.
Now, the problem is that my Client wants such a kind of flanges for services that easily reach and overpass 400 °C.
With the exception of a thin (10-30 microns) PTFE coating around the steel gasket ring, that serves the purpose of color coding, I do not see any technical reason why the temperature should be limited to 250 °C.
Any suggestion would be really appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
