common available hot rolled WF in the market 1

where can i get a list of common available WF in the market. i tend to just use whatever size i see on AISC table but was told some WF may be difficult to obtain.

If you are dealing with small quantities of beams, then many fabricator will order from warehouses instead of the mills. Stock "warehouse sizes" may vary depending on your location. That is a difficult target for an engineer.

With some exceptions, such as jumbo shapes, most of the sizes in AISC are available from the mills. Delivery will depend on lead time and location.

Talk with the local fabricators who might bid the job, and talk with local warehouses who might furnish small or odd quantities for the job. For the most part they will have a good handle on the matter even if another fab’er. gets the job, and they will generally be able to advise on mill order lead times too.
