I am attempting to design a combo weld fixture that will allow for the welding of two steel blocks to each end of a steel bar by two operators.
I am thinking of a barrel enclosed in a triangular support fixture. This barrel will allow for the loading of the 1st end blocks and the steel bar into slots and for welding by operator #1.
The opposite end of the barrel will allow for the 2nd end block and the steel bar to be held, weld together and then off loadeded by operator #2.
The operators stand in front of each other and the plane of the horizontal barrel sides (not the ends) are perpendicular to them.
They perform the welding operation at the same time. Operator #1 loads at the same time operator #2 off-loads the fixture.
When finshed welding they will use a foot pedal to rotate the fixture the distance required to rotate 180 degrees to restart the process.
The parts will be held on th fixture horizontally because the steel bars grow horizontally.
Does anyone see anything wrong with this idea that they can critique.
