Combining Lateral Systems outside of Chapter 12

Per ASCE 7-10 Chapter 12, it is acceptable to have dual systems for lateral resistance. But is it possible to have a dual system that is not listed in that table? If this was just a steel building only, I could choose "steel system not specifically detailed for seismic resistance". I have a situation where I want to use a braced frame and precast shear walls.

Is this possible to combine those lateral systems?
Is it acceptable to use the lowest R value based on the systems I am using? Is there any precedence or discussions on this?

12.2.3 Combinations of Framing Systems in the Same Direction. Where different seismic force-resisting systems are
used in combination to resist seismic forces in the same direction, other than those combinations considered as dual systems, the most stringent applicable structural system limitations contained in Table 12.2-1 shall apply and the design shall comply with the requirements of this section...
