I am contemplating combining cooling tower water from an open crossflow cooling tower for two uses: 1) condenser water for a 1,000 ton centrifugal chiller, and 2) cooling water for various utility and process equipment, for which the main load is air compressors.
Will there be any problems with chiller control if the utility/process cooling load varies? Is there a compelling reason to NOT combine the streams?
Looking at about 600 gpm for the utility/process cooling, and I assume about a 10 deg delta T. 3 gpm/ton for the chiller condenser water.
I am considering a VFD, should multiple cells also be considered for part loading?
Thanks
