Dear users of Inventor,

I am using Mechanical Desktop to make models for CNC machine. Most part of the models is fully symmetrical, that means in MD I can make quarter of model, use mirror command for the quarter, combine two quarters, mirror already half of the part and combine two halve again. I have tried to do same thing in Inventor and have found that I can mirror a feature after feature and can’t mirror whole quarter of the part. But it is pain to mirror hundred features. I have tried in different way: made quarter, opened new part file and made derived part mirrored in relation to original. Now I have two files with quarters of needed part that I would combine somehow and after that I could make derived half and combine the halve again, but I don’t know how. Maybe somebody know if it is possible to make in Inventor?

Thanks full in advance,

Olga

A few ways. Make 1/4 of the model then mirror all of those features by selecting the first feature in the browser and then hold Shift then the last. Then mirror.

The derived part process will be a bit more work. Derive the mirror of the first 1/4. The make an assembly and place them in place. Make a new derived part form this assembly. Now you have a derived 1/2 mirror. Place this derived into a new assy with the first 2 parts. Now derive into a final part.

I'd suggest the first method however.
